Next Emergent meeting:

There will NOT be an Emergent meeting on Thursday, 1 April because the Candidate is not ready. However, we are planning a double Second Degree for the Emergent Night in May, which falls on 6 May. The candidates will be Bros Clarke and St. Pierre.

Next regular meeting:

Our next Regular Meeting will be on Thursday, 15 April. This will be "Election Night", when we will be voting on the senior officers for the coming Masonic year. We will also be doing a First Degree to initiate Mr. O'Neil Brooke.

News from the Regular Meeting  18 February 2010

Because our Regular Meeting in March meeting fell in the "March Break" of Ottawa schools, some of our officers were away.  The WM was in London England and the Secretary was down in Kilmarnock, VA, building another Habitat for Humanity house. Nevertheless, the meeting wasably managed by the SW, WBro Pepper, sitting in the East, and the secretarial functions were done by Bro Martineau.   The work of the evening was Masonic Education, under the tutelage of RWBro Harbert.  We also balloted on the Petition of Mr. O'Neil Brooke and the Application for Affiliation of WBro Mark Paine, with the ballots being favourable to both applicants.

Prior to the meeting, our new JW, Bro Jon Orazietti, put together a splendid festive board, featuring delicious home made meat balls, prepared by his Mother, along with abundant pasta and a caesar salad.   Since his Mother lives in Sault St. Marie, this was quite an achievement.

In spite of the absence of several key officers due to sickness and the pressing needs of their public avocations, the brethren stepped up to fill all of the key chairs for the first visit of our new DDGM, RWBro Kenneth Brinston.

There was no degree work but the Lodge balloted favourably on a new petition.  The acting SW, WBro George Ingraham, gave an extensive report on the Committee of General Purposes, including a detailed update on Westboro Masonic Temple affairs, and the WM provide some Masonic education, based on contemplation of the rough and perfect ashlers.  In addition, the DDGM gave a brief summary of the 2018 meeting of Grand Lodge.

The Most Worshipful, the Grand Master, Paul E. Todd will be attending Bytown's Installation night on 17 May, where, in addition to participating in the installation of our new WM, he will be presenting VWBro Cal Bellamy with his 50 year pin.
This regular meeting will mark Bytown's 49th year.  As usual for our anniversary meeting, no degree work is scheduled.  The business meeting will be short, and there will be some Masonic education, but we will then gather for the festive board in the main hall below.

Good food and fellowship are assured!

News from the Emergent Meeting on 4 October

Bytown initiated Bro Mathieu M. Seguin at an emergent meeting on 4 Oct 18.  Prior to the meeting, the brethren gathered for food and fellowship at the nearby Clock Tower Brew Pub.  There was an excellent turnout at the initiation, with 21 members and three visitors present.  Several officers were unable to attend because of sickness or other unavoidable reasons, but last minute stand-ins carried out the degree in a manner which upheld Bytown's usual high standards.  Special kudos go to our new JW, Bro Jon Orazietti, who delivered the JW's lecture for the first time.
